The bálos is a much-loved dance in a 2/4 rhythm, from the Greek islands and Asia Minor coast. Danced face to face by smiling couples executing freely improvised steps and figures elegantly and smoothly, it’s as though the dancers really are playing a flirting game of body language. The singer chooses erotic couplets from an endless repertoire to suit his mood and sings them to the melody. Featuring a companía with violin, oud, lute and toubeléki.
