Απάνω στην τριανταφυλλιά
The partridge built her nest,
aman aman, high up upon the rose-bush.
And the startled partridge started,
and the roses to the ground did fall.
The neighbours heard the news,
the fine ladies of Patras,
picked up their baskets and went a-gathering,
to make wreathes of them.

’Κεί απάνω στη, κι αμάν-αμάν-αμάν,
’κεί απάνω στην τριανταφυλλιά,
’κεί απάνω στην τριανταφυλλιά,
έφτιασε η πέρδικα φωλιά.
Κι αναταράχτ’ η πέρδικα
και πέσαν τα τριαντάφυλλα.
Το μάθανε οι γειτόνισσες,
της Πάτρας οι αρχόντισσες.
Παίρνουν τα καλαθάκια τους
και πάνε να τα μάσουνε,
στεφάνια να τα φτιάσουνε.
