Kostas Meretakis

Born in 1979 in Athens, he became interested in traditional percussion from an early age. He studied European music theory and electric instruments with professors Efstathios Christelis and Ioannis Kastrinos. He graduated from the Music High School of Pallini, where he trained in traditional percussion under Vangelis Karipis. He also attended percussion workshops with Zohar Fresco at Ross Daly’s Music Workshop “Labyrinth”.

He has performed in concerts in Greece and abroad, participated in recorded productions, and appeared on television and radio. He has collaborated with singers of both traditional music and art-laden popular music.

He has taught at numerous conservatories, music schools, and academies, and has been a member of various orchestras and musical ensembles.
