This song is about a long lost traveller who returns to his village where nobody recognizes him. He meets his wife and tells her who he is. But she believes him only when he is able to answer successfully a last question concerning a hidden part of her body.
Time signature: 4/4
Mode: Diatonic C with cadence on E. The range is that of a major sixth (C-A), with the occasional addition of the lower G.
Studio recording, 2001. Based on the original recording of 1930 by Melpo Merlier, founder of the “Music Folklore Archive” of the “Centre for Asia Minor Studies”.
The song is included in the album Songs of Cappadocia, production: Friends of the Melpo Merlier Music Folklore Archives (2002).
