Panos Dimitrakopoulos

Born in Athens in 1973, Panos Dimitrakopoulos lived in Aigio until 1992, when he returned to Athens to commence his studies. From 1995 onwards he started working as a professional musician, playing the kanun (kanonaki) and collaborating with some of the most important Greek artists, participating in concerts in Greece and abroad.

He has taught the kanun at the National Conservatoire, the Athens Conservatoire and in the Department of Popular and Traditional Music of the Technical College of Epirus.

He participated in the recording sessions of Loreena McKennitt’s record An ancient muse and in her performances in Grenada in Spain. Currently, amongst other activities, he collaborates with the musical groups ‘Takim’ and ‘Quash’.
