Domna Samiou first heard the song in 1972 from a local group of female dancers and singers, presented by Dora Stratou
at one of her music festivals.
Two rhythms alternate — a 4-beat and a 2-beat. The dance, called pidhichtοs (leaping dance) or dance of the star and the little moon, is a women’s circular dance performed in Drymos, Thessaloniki.
