Σόλο σαντούρι
The santur is a stringed instrument with metal strings. It is a descendant of the ancient psaltery, from which it also takes its name — salterio in Italy and Portugal, santur in Persia and Iraq, and santoor in India.
It consists of a trapezoidal soundboard, made of wood and of varying sizes. Its strings, stretched parallel to the bases, span three or four octaves in semitones and are struck with two slender sticks, whose ends are covered with a pad of cotton or leather.
Based on Domna Samiou’s 1969 field recording of the tune in Karlovasi, Samos.
