Περπερούνα περπατεί
και το Θιο παρακαλεί
για να βρέξει μια βροχή,

*μπάρις: λακούβες με νερό
A song that accompanied an ancient custom during times of drought. To bring rain, the village girls would choose the poorest among them, adorn her with greenery and flowers, and go from door to door singing the Perperouna. The housewife would sprinkle the child with water and give money. “Perperouna” was the name given both to the girl and to the custom itself.
