Oriental dance in 4/4 rhythm, widespread among all the populations of the Ottoman Empire — Muslim, Christian and Jewish. It is mainly danced by women, but also by men, who inflame erotic interest with affected and graceful movements of the body and hands, a seductive swaying and slow rotation of the hips, etc.
