This local dance, set in a 2/4 rhythm, is clearly of great antiquity. It is performed face-to-face in pairs – usually by women, and less commonly by mixed couples. With movements that are particularly slow and fluid, the dancers remain facing one another as they shift to the left or right of their partners or turn around themselves, waving handkerchiefs in time with the rhythm, raising and lowering their arms as if engaged in a ritual. The melody is typically accompanied by songs in the local dialect.
