This local dance with a 2/4 rhythm is clearly very old indeed. It is danced face-to-face in pairs, usually by women and less commonly by mixed couples. Their movement especially slow and fluid, the dancers remain facing one another, moving to the left and right of their partners or around themselves, waving their handkerchiefs in time with the rhythm as they raise and lower their arms, as though taking part in some ritual. The melody is generally accompanied by songs in the local dialect.
