Μπεράτι Μετσόβου
A mixed, seated (sygkathistos) dance from Southern Epirus, traditionally performed at weddings when the relatives accompanied the bride and groom to the church. Today, it is danced at various festive events, such as celebrations and village festivals.
It takes its name from the town of Metsovo. Note the more cheerful character and the more playful rhythm of this Berati in comparison to the earlier one from Northern Epirus (Berati of Epirus). The influence of the folk-music of Southern Greece is obvious.
