Μπεράτι Ηπείρου
Extremely popular in Northern Epirus, this dance takes its name from the town of Berat in Albania, where it probably originated. At the beginning, the rhythm is majestic and solemn, but as soon as the clarinet launches into magnificent ornamentations and perilous glissandi, it becomes faster without, however, relinquishing the attitude of restraint which generally characterizes Epirote music.
