Musical Travelogue with Domna Samiou – Skiathos

With Mr. Yannis Parisis as her guide, Domna Samiou meets many Skathos islanders who sing and dance songs from this beautiful island, their homeland. Among them: Mr. Yannis Kyriakoulis, Captain Yiorgis Tzoumas, Mary Batli, Diamandis Myrodis, Sozia Kyriakoulis, Captain Paraschos Manikas and his men.

“Musical Travelogue with Domna Samiou” (“Musiko Odiporiko me ti Domna Samiou”) was a television series researched and presented by Domna Samiou and broadcast by Greek National Television in 1976-1977. Each episode was dedicated to the music and dance tradition of a different area of Greece.

Yannis Kyriakoulis sings the song O Black Dawn, Won’t You Break. Domna Samiou used this recording as her base when she performed this song in her album Of Nature and of Love.

Captain Yiorgis Tzoumas, (his family came from Cesme [Çeşme], on the western shores of Asia Minor) sings Captain Paraschos’ Song, a song about carefree captain Paraschos and his partying blunders.

She also included it in her Perperouna album.
