He was born and raised in the village of Koskinas in the region of Karditsa. From a very young age, he loved Greek folk music, receiving inspiration from his father, who was a chanter and village teacher. He studied Byzantine music and Orthophony in Athens.
He collaborated with numerous musicians in various music centers, most notably with his long-time partner of thirty years, the acclaimed clarinetist Petroloukas Chalkias.
He took part in many concerts, both in Greece and abroad, performing with Greek and international artists —including Ross Daly— as well as with an Indian ensemble, with whom he succeeded in blending Epirus music with Indian musical traditions.
He released numerous albums and was awarded two gold records.
