Founded in 1954 by Eleni Tsaouli and a small group of young people, the organization set out to widely promote and showcase the folk dances of Greece.
As a non-profit association, the group has participated in over a thousand performances in Greece and abroad and currently has more than two hundred members. It includes a dance ensemble of about forty-five members, a children’s dance group, a costume collection of over 150 outfits —most of them authentic— from various regions of Greece, and a repertoire of dances representing most Greek regions.
Domna Samiou collaborated with Eleni Tsaouli and the group from the beginning of her career in 1971 until 1995, participating in over 160 concerts in Greece and abroad, as well as in recordings.
