Yiorgos Gevgelis

Born in 1953 in Goumenissa, Kilkis, in a family of musicians. He specializes in percussion, mainly the davul and goblet drum.

At the age of thirteen, he moved to Athens, where he performed at the Greek Dances Theatre “Dora Stratou” until 1992. He collaborated with numerous artists and dance ensembles in Attica and participated in concerts around the world. In his discography, he contributed to a large number of albums in the Dora Stratou series and released two solo records.

In 1997, he was one of the founding members of the “Bacchae” Centre for Traditional Dance and Percussion, where he taught percussion.
