Naxiot song, a syrtos dance. It was recorded in the summer of 1964, sung by Yiorgos Konitopoulos. I met the Konitopoulos family when they first came down to Athens from their homeland, Kynidaros of Naxos. They were performing on a folklore program by Nikos Sfiroeras on the old “Enoplon” station, where I also used to participate at times. Together with Irini and Yiorgos, who still preserved their genuine character and the local color in the lyrics and melodies of their songs, we recorded a series of songs from Naxos: You Quench Your Thirst… O Sea, Dance on, Dance on, The Flower of the Garden, I Come and Go to See Your Eyes, and of course this song.
