Alexandros Arkadopoulos

Born in 1977 in Ioannina, where he also grew up, he began his musical studies at the age of seven, initially learning harmonium, guitar, bouzouki, and percussion. He later studied flute and traditional clarinet. He holds a degree in harmony, a flute diploma, a Byzantine music diploma, and a degree from the Department of Music Studies at the University of Athens. He completed his doctoral dissertation on the Zagori region of Epirus.

As a flutist, he was a founding and core member of the Ioannina Youth Symphony Orchestra from 1987. As a traditional clarinetist, he received his first lessons from the renowned Epirus teacher Grigoris Kapsalis. He has participated in concerts, recordings, performances, and radio and television programs alongside leading contemporary composers and singers from both the art song and traditional music scenes.

In 2004, he took part in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Athens Olympic Games. He taught traditional wind instruments at the Department of Folk and Traditional Music at the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus and traditional clarinet at the Athens Conservatory. He is also a member of the musical ensemble “Takim”.
