Castle, What Has Happened to Your Towers?

Κάστρο, και πού ’ν’ οι πύργοι σου;

Domna Samiou At Megaron, The Athens Concert Hall

Lyrics

“Castle, what has happened to your towers and your belfries?
And where are all those gallant lads, those fine upstanding fellows?”
“Ah me, those gallant lads of mine, those fine upstanding fellows,
the gloomy earth enjoys them now in dark and Stygian Hades.
I bear no grudge against the Turk, nor malice to old Charon,
but I loathe and malice bear against that cur of a damned traitor
who did betray them to my loss”.

Translated by John Leatham

Original Lyrics

Κάστρο, και πού ’ν’ οι πύργοι σου;

«Κάστρο, και πού ’ν’ οι πύργοι σου και τα καμπαναριά σου;
