Yiorgos Makris

Born in 1977 in Alistrati in the Serres Prefecture, Central Macedonia. He studied the piano at the National Conservatoire and is self-taught on the Pontic bagpipe (gaida) and on the kaval.

He plays the bagpipe (gaida) and has collaborated with well-known artists; he has also participated in tours both in and outside of Greece.

Member of the music group 'Theros' (2002-2006), founder member of the traditional group 'Alistrata', of 'Muhabbet Mafia Band', and of 'Paradoxonia Jazz Band'.

He has participated in the albums of many musicians and since 2008 he has been teaching the bagpipe (gaida) at the Athens Conservatory.
