Yiorgos Makris

Born in 1977 in Alistrati, Serres. Self-taught on the Pontic bagpipe (gaida) and kaval, he also studied piano at the National Conservatoire.

He has collaborated with many well-known artists and has participated in tours in Greece and abroad.

Member of the musical ensemble «Theros» (2002–2006), and a founding member of the traditional group «Alistrata», the «Muhabbet Mafia Band», and the «Paradoxonia Jazz Band».

He contributed to numerous recordings and began teaching at the Athens Conservatoire in 2008.
