Michalis Viglatzis

[Agiassos, Lesvos 1947 – 2011]

Singer of folk songs, amateur actor, construction worker and cafe shop owner, active member of the cultural center of the village “Anagostirion”,  and the village community, where he was known by the nickname “Pappel’”.

He had particularly acting and rich vocal skills and was a leader in local festivals and folk celebrations.

In addition to the Anagnostirion Choir in which he participated, he has sung in recordings by Simon Karas that took place in Agiassos in 1974 and were released with the collections “Songs of Mytilene and Asia Minor” and “Songs of Mytilene and Chios”.
