Haricleia Kanaki

She was born in 1895 in Malakopi (Derinkuyu). She was among the “exchanged” population when the population exchange took place in 1924. She spent eight years in Constantinople before coming to Greece, where she settled in the Tambouria neighborhood of Piraeus. Her father and her husband were both grocers by profession.

In 1930, at the age of 35 and widowed, she was recorded in Athens by Melpo Merlier in 14 songs. She had limited literacy.
