Home / Her Work / Song Catalogue / Sereanitsa
Dance with a 7/8 rhythm from the villages of Heriana in Argyroupoli (Gümüşhane or Kimishana) in the Eastern Pontus. Its many variations (Serenitsa, Sirianitsa, Cheiranitsa etc.) owe their names to this provenance. However, is it also known as the Eikosiena (twenty-one). The melody is played without an accompanying song on all the different instruments (pontic lyra, zournas, pontic bagpipe, daouli, clarinet, kaval) used in Pontian folk music, as it is in the Kotsari which follows.
