Fr. Υeorgios D. Metallinos

(1940-2019) Archpriest fr. Yeorgios D. Metallinos was born in Corfu, an island in the Ionian Sea, where he completed his Secondary education.

He is a graduate of the University of Athens in Theology (1962) and Classical Literature (1967). From 1969 to 1975 he studied Theology, Classical Literature, Philosophy, History, and Sociology in Western Germany (Bonn and Cologne). In 1971, he was ordained a member of the clergy in Germany. He became Doctor of Theology in Athens and Doctor of Philosophy and History in Cologne.

Since 1984 he was a professor at the School of Theology of the University of Athens. He served as dean of the School of Theology between 2004 and 2007 when he was emerited.

He served as a cleric at the ‘Saint Antipas’ chapel of the School of Dentistry of the University of Athens. He was a member of many scientific associations and represented the Church of Greece and Cyprus in conventions.
