Born in 1953 in Agio Pnevma, Serres, and made her first appearance in the music scene in 1974, singing in Plaka’s boîtes alongside established artists and performing songs by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Manos Loizos, and others.
In early 1982, she was selected to represent Greece at the “Europalia 82” cultural festival in Brussels, together with other prominent Greek artists. Since then, she has collaborated with leading figures in Greek and international music and has performed extensively in Greece and abroad, including appearances in Israel, Turkey, United Kingdom, France, Cyprus, Australia, and elsewhere.
She has a prolific discography and has participated in numerous radio and television broadcasts. Through her career, Glykeria has contributed to the promotion of both Greek popular song and traditional and rebetiko music, establishing her voice as one of the most distinctive on the contemporary Greek music scene.
