Agapios Tompoulis

(1879-1965) Born in Istanbul around 1879. He settled in Athens in 1918, where he died in 1965. He was an oud virtuoso and a composer.

He collaborated with Simon Karas at the radio show 'Ellinikoi Andilaloi' (Greek Echoes).

As a soloist and a composer of rebetika songs, he collaborated with all the classic voices of the Rebetiko and left behind a large discography.

A collection of 127 traditional songs and tunes from all over Greece that were first released on 45 rpm records between 1959 and 1969 under the direction and musical supervision of Domna Samiou. The collection was compiled and edited by Yiorgos Tsampras.
